The Department of Aging invites the public to participate in our rule-making process.
An administrative rule is a state regulation that bears the weight of law. Before a proposed rule is adopted into law, it generally undergoes a public comment period and a formal rule-review process by the Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review (JCARR).
Before the Department files a proposed rule with JCARR, it generally posts a draft of the rule on the web site in search of public comments. Your participation in this stage of the rule-making process is very important. Based upon your input, the language of the draft rule may be improved before advancing to the next stage of the rule-making process.
After the public comment period, the Department files the proposed rule with JCARR for a formal review process that includes a public hearing. If the proposed rule is not invalidated after such a review, then it will become an official state regulation that will be part of the Ohio Administrative Code.
