OAAAA 2008 Annual Conference on Aging

Description:The Ohio Association of Area Agencies on Aging (OAAAA) proudly presents the 19th OAAAA Annual Conference on Aging. This two-day conference provides educational and networking opportunities to professionals, volunteers, policymakers and others committed to Ohio’s older population and the aging network. The conference offers pre-conference intensives, workshops, exhibits and general sessions. Whether attending for the first time or returning, you will learn about new resources, legislative changes, and innovative practices from renowned speakers, experts in the field of aging, conference participants and our sponsors. Join your peers and others committed to the issues that affect older adults at the OAAAA Annual Conference. Expand your knowledge, refresh your spirit, reconnect with friends and make new ones!

Aging in Ohio 2008
Date & Location: Sept. 10, 2008 - Columbus
Target audience: Aging network professionals
Description: Aging in Ohio is a foundation course for anyone involved with the aging network. For over 17 years, experienced professionals have provided an introduction to the aging network, aging programs and services, demographic trends and the organizations, agencies and funding sources that comprise the aging network. Aging in Ohio includes information on the policies and issues that face the aging network and expands existing knowledge of the network and related programs.
Cost/Registration: $100, due 2 weeks prior.

Date & Location: October 3-5, 2008 - Concourse Hotel and Conference Center, Columbus
Target audience: Aging Network Professionals
Description: The conference features plenary sessions and didactic sessions on new drugs for dementia, incorporating a successful home care practice, issues and solutions for care transitions, managing liability, disease management in the frail elderly, wound care, drug update and managing unintended weight loss.
Cost/Registration: $175 for non-members, $150 for members and $25 for students due by Sept. 22. $190, $160 and $30, respectively, day of the event.

Legal Authority to Act for Another -- and the responsibilities of doing so

Target audience: Aging Network Professionals
Description: Often health care professionals need to be able to discern who — if anyone — has the power to make decisions on behalf of their client. When presented with vague and sometimes contradictory information, it is important to have a basic understanding of the legal documents that give one person the power to make decisions for another. Participants will learn valuable information from a certified elder law attorney that will be useful in both personal and professional situations.

Stay Connected- Maintaining Your Utility Service
