Long-term Care Consultations

What is a long-term care consultation?
- This service helps people consider the types of care they’d prefer, how they are going to pay for it and other factors in making long-term care decisions. Early planning can reduce complications caused when these decisions are put off until a crisis.
- Ohio’s twelve area agencies on aging offer free long-term care consultations. A consultant (most often a nurse or social worker) will meet with you and your family for a free in-home evaluation of your current situation and future options. He or she will explain services available, discuss eligibility requirements and financial resources required and help determine your needs and wishes.
Who is eligible for a long-term care consultation?
- There are no eligibility restrictions. Any Ohio individual or family desiring one may request it.
- Some people seeking admission to a nursing facility are required to receive a consultation.
