The Ohio Association of Gerontology and Education, through a partnership with the Ohio Department of Aging, solicits nominations for the Practitioner of the Year Award, presented at OAGE's annual spring conference.
OAGE unites educators, researchers, professionals and students to and serve as a resource for and provide professional development to students, faculty and professionals. OAGE has recognized researchers, students and educators for more than 20 years. The Practitioner of the Year Award, introduced in 2005, recognizes individuals and organizations in Ohio's aging network (e.g., area agencies on aging, senior centers, nursing homes, home health agencies, nutrition programs, long term care ombudsman programs) that have either:
Examples of eligible initiatives include student intern and mentorship programs; intergenerational programs that benefit students and older adults; use of performance measures to improve services; partnerships with institutions of higher learning to improve and/or expand services; research that results in improved practice or new services; and partnership aimed at expanding the health and long-term care labor forces.
The award is presented at OAGE's annual Ohio Professional and Student Conference on Aging, usually held in April. Please check back in March to submit a nomination.
