FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 23, 2007
COLUMBUS - The Ohio Department of Aging will conduct video interviews with senior fitness experts and active older Ohioans at the Active Aging Festival, Friday, March 2, 2007, from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the Hyatt Regency Ballroom in Columbus. Video clips of the interviews will be available on the Department of Aging Web site (www.goldenbuckeye.com) later in the month.
"Staying active and fit is crucial to living a healthy, vibrant life, and so many Ohioans are doing just that," said Barbara E. Riley, Director of the Ohio Department of Aging. "We are asking individuals who understand the importance of exercise to share their secrets with others."
The Active Aging Festival will promote active, fun lifestyles to improve strength and endurance, help older Ohioans feel better, and reduce the risk of falls and chronic disease. Experts, including international fitness celebrities Jack and Elaine LaLanne, will offer presentations on the benefits of exercise and healthy diet as we age. The Department of Aging invites festival-goers to stop by their information table for a brief on-camera interview about what they do to stay fit. Clips from the event will be posted on the department's Web site by March 15, 2007 and may be used in other promotional materials.
The Active Aging Festival is part of the three-day Arnold Fitness EXPO 2007, which features 32 other fitness events and more than 650 exhibitors.
