The Department of Aging hosts and promotes several special events throughout the year to recognize the varied contributions of Ohio's seniors and others who help make Ohio a great place to live.

Joined Hearts in Giving
February 14, 2008 - Governor's Residence, Columbus
Joined Hearts in Giving is a special reception held in observance of Valentine's Day to honor couples who have been married 40 years or more, are at least 60 years old and who volunteer together in their communities.

OAGE Practitioner of the Year Award
April 11, 2008 - Ohio Professional and Student Conference, Cleveland State University
The Practitioner of the Year Award, introduced in 2005, recognizes individuals and organizations in Ohio's aging network that improved services to older adults through research or evalation; or developed noteworthy partnerships with institutions of higher learning for the betterment of Ohio's older population.

The Department of Aging joins Ohio communities in celebrating the heritage and contribution of our most treasured citizens throughout the month of May. Check beginning in April for a listing of upcoming local events.

Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame
Thursday, May 22, 2008 - Capitol Theater, Vern Riffe Center for Government and the Arts, Columbus
Since 1977, more than 300 individuals have been inducted into the Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame for extraordinary achievements and contributions to others.
